Do I need a BOOST?

Use a BOOST if you’re worried about your home WiFi performance.
Connecting a Sonos unit to your router with an Ethernet cable automatically creates a dedicated Sonos wireless network.
Any player or a BOOST can make this hard-wired connection.A dedicated Sonos network is ideal when your WiFi isn’t reliable in your home.

I'm starting from scratch; what do I need?

All you need is one of our speakers for each room where you want music.
The easiest way to get started with Sonos is to get a PLAY:1, PLAY:3, or PLAY:5 for each room where you want music. A single speaker is designed to fill a room with sound, but if you want better sound quality or more power, you can use two matching speakers in a stereo pair.
If you have a room where you want to use Sonos as a solution for both music and TV sound, start with our PLAYBAR. At any point, you can add our SUB and rear surround speakers for immersive 5.1 sound.

What is the range of your system?

It depends on whether your system is using your WiFi network or a dedicated Sonos network.
When Sonos is operating on WiFi, the range of our system is limited to the range of your WiFi network. As long as your WiFi reaches all the rooms where you want to put a Sonos product, you won't have any issues with range.
If your WiFi network isn't reliable, or doesn't reach all the areas where you want to use Sonos, connecting a Sonos unit to your router with an Ethernet cable automatically creates a dedicated Sonos wireless network. Each Sonos product you use in your home serves as a wireless repeater to expand the range of our dedicated network.

Can I use Sonos without an internet connection or router?
Sonos is not designed to work without a broadband internet connection and a router. Sonos was designed to let you listen to all the music on earth, in any room of your home, wirelessly. As a result, our system requires a broadband internet connection and a router to function properly.

How is Sonos different to Bluetooth speakers?

Bluetooth uses a short-range wireless system to pair a bluetooth speaker to a smart device in order to access music. Because the smart device and speaker need to be physically close to each other, the wireless range, expandability and control of a bluetooth system can be limited.
Sonos smart speakers connect to each another over the existing WiFi network in your home. WiFi has a greater range and works with multiple devices. Sonos allows different music to be played through each speaker, or the same music (in sync) through all speakers. You can control any Sonos speaker via the Sonos App on your computer, smartphone or tablet, etc.

Will Sonos work with my existing equipment?

Already have a Stereo? Use the CONNECT.
The CONNECT is designed specifically to integrate with an external amplifier/receiver, and bring Sonos functionality to a third party system. Once you have a CONNECT hooked up to your stereo system, you can stream digital music and control the music selection and volume from the Sonos app.
Have a pair of speakers? The CONNECT:AMP is all you need.
If you have existing wired speakers that are not currently driven by an amplifier, you can use a CONNECT:AMP to bring Sonos functionality to your speakers. Once you wire your speakers to a CONNECT:AMP, you can stream digital music and control the music selection and volume from the Sonos app.

Can I connect Sonos to my TV?

PLAYBAR is the only soundbar that delivers outstanding Hi-Fi Sound for your TV and is a complete Wireless HiFi System that plays all the music on earth. It is simple to set-up, control and expand throughout your home. With only an optical cable connecting PLAYBAR to your TV, you can control it with your regular TV remote or with the free Sonos apps on iOS, Android, Mac and PC.
PLAYBAR is the core piece in a Sonos home cinema solution. If you want dramatically deeper bass, you can add our wireless SUB. If you're looking for surround sound, you can use two PLAY:1s or two PLAY:3s as wireless rear surrounds.

Can I play different music in different rooms at the same time?
Yes. Sonos was specifically designed to play different music in different rooms, or the same music in sync. If you have a Sonos player in each room where you want music, you can play different music in different rooms. You can also group rooms together if you want them to play the same music in perfect sync. When rooms are grouped together, you can control the volume for each room individually or as a group.
